Susan Cupitt

Biography
Based in Cambridge.

Susan is established as a stoneware potter in Cambridge and exhibits regularly both locally and further afield. She teaches the art of throwing on the wheel.

Statement
All my work is thrown on the wheel, which I like as an effective piece of technology which links us directly with our ancient potting forebears and their simpler way of life. I am currently experimenting with different clay bodies and moving away from the production of purely domestic ware. Nevertheless, my aim continues to be the production of serviceable vessels which please the eye and are good to handle. I use some geometric designs, but generally my emphasis is on form and restfulness. I am also experimenting with glazes using wood ash and oxides.

Media
