Biography
Lives and works in Little Dunmow, Essex
Has been painting seriously since the late seventies, being self taught as a botanical painter. This developed into learning calligraphy, in order to combine text and image. Also learnt printmaking with Carole Wheeldon in Duxford. Has exhibited at the Royal Horticultural Society, and the Royal Academy, plus group shows at the Mall Galleries. Is a member of The Art Workers Guild in Queen Square as a painter-printmaker.
Statement
So many different ideas combine with illustration and script, but also with etchings and calligraphy which has an endless fascination. Am attempting to capture the “something else” from a landscape to explore a more visionary approach. This is where the maps and field names appear, and where the research becomes almost as exciting as the artwork, again trying to delve into the past with the English countryside we have inherited.
